It has to be music for me. It has been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember - my mum is very musical and used to be a music teacher and piano teacher. When I was younger I learnt the oboe, piano & saxophone, and sang too, and loved being part of the school choirs, orchestras and jazz bands. I don't play much now, but still need music in my life on a daily basis.
It lifts my spirits, gives me energy and consoles me too.
I've got a very broad taste in music (pretty much anything and everything apart from UK garage, chart dance or pop music). Rock, metal & indie from the 90's & 00's is my go-to, but I have also discovered in the last 18 months swing dancing. That era of music is amazing and having never danced before I've discovered it as an incredible mindful practice and source of exercise, not to mention real fun and healthy challenge to my bouts of social anxiety! I look forward to every practise and our social events and highly recommend it to anyone and everyone! I can't imagine not having it in my life now! :)
Anyone else found an unexpected hobby like this?
