The joy of gift wrap: saving time and making magic

I'm a firm believer that there are just two types of people in this world when it comes to wrapping presents - those that love it and those that loathe it! I am firmly in the love camp, so I thought I'd share a little about quite how seriously I take it, and why!

I believe that first impressions really do count, so I have carefully considered every part of the packaging process to ensure that it is a delight from the moment it lands on your (or your loved one's) doorstep.

I adore going the extra mile (or two!) for gift-wrapping - it's my guilty pleasure, I love how the wrapping announces that there's something really special inside. This kind of wrapping adds a level of excitement to a present; it is decadent and luxurious, with copious levels of adoration and attention to detail.

A clear indicator that this is a handmade gift, and one that's been made with dedicated love and flair.

This is an important first impression. Wrapped first with handmade dark grey mulberry paper, edges meticulously glued down (not a scrap of cellotape in sight), then with a contrasting strip of hand-painted paper added and dusky pink paper raffia tied into a delicate bow to finish it all off in style.

It costs just £4 for gift wrapping and at this time of year also includes a gorgeous Christmas card by another independant artist (this year it's the fabulous Laura Stoddart) which I can write with your personal note so this package of delight can be sent direct to the recipient and save you time as well as money!

Just tick the box in the basket when you're in my Etsy Shop to say "mark order as a gift", and you will then get the options on the checkout page to add a personalised message (for free) and/or select the upgrade for gift wrapping.

flatlay of packing materials and what's included inside the parcels with the jewellery

For all orders I use recycled kraft card envelopes to protect the jewellery in transit, and which can be recycled after use too. Even your address label is fixed with adhesive kraft tape - no ugly plastic cellotape to be seen here!

Inside you will find a handwritten thank you note from me to you (or a personalised message if you requested one) on a branded postcard, along with a luxury business card and complimentary polishing cloth.

Your jewellery is encased in a smart grey jewellery box (which is recyclable, sustainably sourced and made from recycled materials too!).

The box is tied in a bow with pretty pink paper raffia, or gift wrapped if you chose that upgrade. Inside the box there is another layer of tissue paper with a branded sticker before the jewellery is finally revealed underneath.

All these details I have laboured over, debating between this shade of pink or that, this tissue paper or that one... all parts of the picture that matter almost as much as the jewellery itself.

I pour my heart and soul into the work I create and the physical act of receiving and unwrapping it is part of that whole experience.

Buying jewellery is so often an act of kindness and love, and that experience begins with you the moment it crosses the threshold to your home.

I love wrapping your gifts and you get extra time to get another job ticked off the list - or, hopefully, put your feet up with a well deserved tipple! So it's a win-win all round, I'd say!
